Cache - post-relational database from InterSystems - We use the term "post-relational" to distinguish Caché from old-fashioned relational databases that force data into a simplistic, two-dimensional model. Caché stores data in multidimensional structures, which are better for describing real-world data, as well as being inherently faster to access. Caché also provides three ways to access data: 1) SQL; 2) object database access; and 3) multidimensional access to the data arrays. All three access methods can be simultaneously used on the same data with full concurrency. These two factors - multidimensional data structures, and multiple methods of data access - define post-relational technology.
