Global Grid Forum (GGF) - A standards body that creates and publishes Grid Computing Standards. GGF's primary objectives are to promote and support the development, deployment, and implementation of Grid technologies and applications via the creation and documentation of "best practices" - technical specifications, user experiences, and implementation guidelines.
New Industry Body to Build Grid Computing Standards - This article By James Niccolai, IDG News Service discusses how a new body dedicated to encouraging the take-up of grid computing - called the Enterprise Grid Alliance - has been set up by Oracle, EMC, HP and Sun, among others. The Alliance aims to produce specifications that will allow customers to mix and match products from different suppliers. One problem is also noted. At the time of this article the Enterprise Grid Alliance has yet to sign up IBM or Microsoft.
