SCM Definitions by the ACME Project - The Assembling Configuration Management Environments (for Software Development) (ACME) Project provides this collection of software configuration management definitions. The definitions are taken from standards, books, and the open literature.
Software Technology Support Center (STSC) -- Software Configuration Management Terminology - CrossTalk (Jan 1995) - The terms are quoted directly or paraphrased
from DoD and industry publications based on personal
research and experience. Precedence was given to
definitions found in the Software Engineering Institute's
key practices of the Capability Maturity Model. In many
cases, there is a lack of universal agreement among
definitions in the literature on configuration management.
The emphasis herein is on software, although many of the
terms also apply to hardware and firmware.
