DoD Metadata Registry - As part of the overall DoD Net-Centric Data Strategy, the DoD CIO established the DoD Metadata Registry and a related metadata registration process for the collection, storage and dissemination of structural metadata information resources (schemas, data elements, attributes, document type definitions, style-sheets, data structures etc.). This Web-based repository is designed to also act as a Clearinghouse through which industry and government coordination on metadata technology and related metadata issues can be advanced.
Navy XML/SGML Repository - The Navy XML/SGML Repository promotes the sharing of DoN DTDs, Schemas, and Styles (FOSIs, style sheets, XSL, etc.) with the aim of reducing DoN investment by avoiding redundant development. The DTDs in this Repository are official Navy DTDs and should be used when appropriate. The DTDs are also provided in an HTML format to enable navigation through a DTD using hyperlinking.
The XML Cover Pages from OASIS - The Cover Pages is a comprehensive, online reference collection supporting the XML family of markup language standards, XML vocabularies, and related structured information standards. Edited by Robin Cover since 1986, this public access knowledgebase promotes and enables the use of open, interoperable, standards-based solutions which protect digital information and enhance the quality of data processing.
W3C Extensible Markup Language (XML) - This site is provided by the W3C (Worldwide Web Consortium) and provides the technical specifications for the Extensible Markup Language (XML). XML is a very flexible text format derived from SGML that allows information and services to be encoded with meaningful structure and semantics.
W3C Extensible Markup Language (XML) Activity - The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple, flexible text format derived from SGML (ISO 8879). The W3C created, developed and continues to maintain the XML specification. The W3C is also the primary center for developing other cross-industry specifications that are based on XML. Some of these are done within the XML Activity, such as XML Query and XML Schema, and some are being done in other W3C Activities, such as Web Services, SVG and XHTML. The XML Activity tries to keep a balance between maintaining stability and backwards compatibility, making improvements that help to encourage interoperability, and bringing new communities into the world of XML.
XML.Gov - This website facilitates the efficient and effective use of XML through cooperative efforts among government agencies, including partnerships with commercial and industrial organizations. XML.Gov has released a specification for exchanging objects between agencies. The website includes links to Working Groups (including a list of registered efforts), Standards & Guidelines, Registries/Repositories, Discussion Groups, and Tutorials.
