Software Life Cycle Empirical/Experience Database (SLED)
The Software Life Cycle Empirical/Experience Database (SLED) was established to support the acquisition, maintenance, and dissemination of software empirical lifecycle data for research purposes and to support the improvement of the software development process. The SLED is organized into nine data sets covering all phases and aspects of the software lifecycle:
- ARF Error Dataset: Data collected and analyzed by David Weiss on the
development of the Architecture Research Facility (ARF) at the Naval
Research Laboratories (NRL).
- DACS Productivity Dataset: Data
collected from various government and private industry sources and compiled
by Richard Nelson of Rome Laboratory.
- NASA Ames Error/Fault Dataset: Data collected on errors/faults in
thirty-three Digital Flight Control Systems.
- NASA/SEL Dataset: Data collected
and contributed by the Software Engineering Laboratory (SEL) at NASA
Goddard Space Flight Center.
- Software Reliability Dataset:
Data collected at Bell Laboratories, Whippany, NJ, and compiled by John |
Musa.
These Empirical Datasets may be purchased for $50 each from the DACS Store.
The SLED is further described in The DACS Data Compendium, available free
from the DACS. The AIAA SBOS COS Software Reliability Database is defined in
the Data Definition Document, a three-volume draft report also available free from the DACS.
